We got a dose of trade show life when we exhibited at EXHIBITORLIVE in Las Vegas a few weeks back, an annual event which is important to us for several reasons. One, it’s a great opportunity for us to practice what we preach, as we truly believe trade shows are an excellent marketing vehicle. Face-to-face marketing direct with your buyers is a great way to build rapport and drive sales, but I don’t need to tell any of you that. Second, we get the chance to see worthy competitors putting their best foot forward which, in turn, helps us continuously seek to improve our product offerings. Third, we’re able to network with our trusted partners while learning about product and service enhancements which help us help you year-in and year-out. And this last one is unique to our industry: We’re able to experience first-hand, the challenges our clients deal with as they plan, prepare for and attend trade shows.
As your partner, we’re used to offering advice, but the truth is, we always need to concentrate on our design/build/delivery tasks so you can concentrate on everything else. But once a year, we experience the trade show world directly from your point of view and remember just how much is involved with that “everything else”—
- How do we attract attendees with pre-show promotions?
- What message do we want to get across?
- How do we design the exhibit to attract attendees and help us translate our message?
- What can we provide our sales team to engage attendees?
- How many staff and what schedule is required?
- How do we measure ROI?
We could go on and on, but this annual exercise lends us invaluable insights, and helps us strive to do even more, even better, for you.
Slight digression, but don’t you love when people hear you’re traveling for work and get jealous? I know I’m preaching to the choir, but this travel stuff is way overrated. Yes, I was in Las Vegas when back home, they were getting pounded with 20” of snow. Yes, I was at the Mandalay Bay for four days, but I only *heard* it was sunny and 85 degrees. I never got to experience it. I also had the unfortunate luck of encountering a full parking garage when I arrived at the airport, meaning I had to park on the roof… fast-forward to a midnight arrival back home a few days later and my colleagues and I digging our cars out until 2:00 a.m. Travel’s amazing, isn’t it?
I say all of this to remind each of you that we understand your challenges, and we’re here to help in any way we can.

Project Spotlight: OTIS
Otis Technology, a manufacturer of gun cleaning systems and accessories, partnered with Creatacor for its sixth year, to fill a 40’ x 90’ space.
Again, with help from an overall great team, Creatacor helped Otis command a presence at the 2017 SHOT Show. As a face-to-face custom rental turnkey solution from design to execution, OTIS’ exhibit featured two, 16-foot towers wrapped in SEG fabric graphics and aluminum framing, which made setup easy and kept things lightweight for shipping. Each 625 SF-tower consisted of two conference rooms and a focused area for a staff lounge/storage facility.
The overhead truss system accommodated over 70 lighting fixtures and components which helped provide down-lighting for product displays and graphics, and created ambiance.
Custom retail display cases adorned the space, while five custom rental matrix info counters outfitted the exterior floor space. These were manned by Otis staff ready to greet all welcomed attendees.
This past winter, we worked with the Saratoga County Historical Society to design custom exhibit panels, which we then donated locally to the Brookside Museum. The panels double as movable walls and will enable new configurations for temporary exhibits.
“I can’t thank you and your staff enough for the donation,” said Saratoga County Historical Society executive director Gayle King in a letter to Creatacor project lead Rich Henaghan. “We now have two galleries instead of one and can be creative with the walls to give us all sorts of ‘nooks and crannies’ when using the space as one.”
