Creatacor Receives Honor From USS Albany Association

The USS Albany Association presented the Creatacor team with an “Outside Contributor Award” for our work to help restore and display the USS Albany brass test model. Our very own Rich Henaghan received the plaque and certificate on behalf of Creatacor at the Albany Heritage Area Visitors Center in Albany, NY.

The USS Albany brass test model was unveiled in September 2013 at a 20th anniversary celebration for the USS Albany Association Heritage Exhibit. This is the 3rd such project Creatacor has designed, fabricated and installed for the visitors center.

The model is 1/48th the size of the actual ship which was decommissioned in 1980. The U.S. Navy used brass models of ships in San Diego to help determine antenna reception on the real vessels.

Other projects completed by Creatacor at the center include museum quality case displays for Albany 1695 and Albany 1805, miniature views of Albany’s past created by the late Paul Schrodt Sr. Each case, equipped with LED lighting, was meticulously designed by Creatacor using special materials to protect the models so that dust cannot collect and accumulate on them.

This project was especially rewarding as it means so much to the servicemen that have served our country.
